For a few years now, the company has offered up to 1TB of storage on its highest-end smartphones, usually accompanied by 512GB internal storage and 512GB microSD storage – but with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the company offered 1TB internal storage without a microSD card. What are we talking about in terms of cost? Samsung charges $1899 for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with 512GB storage, so the Galaxy Z Fold 4 with 1TB storage should cost at least $1999, if not more. We'll find out later this year, when Samsung unveils the new Galaxy Z Fold 4 in August.
First and foremost, let us discuss the quality and durability of this year's Galaxy Z lineup. I've used both the Fold 3 and the Flip 3 and can say that they're much better in terms of quality than previous generations. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip/5G both came with pre-installed plastic screen protectors that proved to be problematic over time. They constantly picked up smudges, and the edges could lift up and collect dust for some users over time. The improvements this year are night and day. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 have a new screen protector made of a different material over the glass. Samsung claims the screen protector is significantly more resistant to scratches and dents, and it will adhere to the display better, which means it will (hopefully) not come up on its own.
It is also brighter than the previous Fold (1200 nits peak) and has an insignificantly higher pixel density (374 PPI versus 373 PPI) and screen to body ratio (88.8 percent versus 88.6 percent ). That could be due to the new under-display camera, which allowed Samsung to avoid removing a piece of the screen. It looks much better, and I was one of those people who was bothered by a permanent hole in the screen. When you display content over it, it creates this pixelated circle that looks like Pacman with his mouth closed. However, unless you look for it, you won't notice the new snapper. Try to find it in the top right corner of the display below.
The Spigens S Pen case, for example, is designed to mount the pen to the right side of the outer display. This method works, and it is certainly superior to Samsung's solution, but it didn't take long for me to conclude that this isn't an ideal case. The sharp edges are unpleasant, and the extended lip for holding the stylus makes accessing the power button/fingerprint sensor difficult. Instead, I've discovered that a cheap, generic S Pen case purchased on Amazon has been the best solution thus far. While the exact case I purchased is no longer available from the retailer, other sellers are selling the same design.

And now for the 5G angle: As I experienced in Korea, I thought video calling would be the "killer app" for folding phones and 5G. But it turns out that I don't do much video calling on my phone. In my normal life, I'm at my desk when I'm doing video calls. It's an audio call if I call someone from the street. So I wasn't getting the 5G boost that would make a large, folding phone unstoppable. I put down the Z Fold3, looked at my OnePlus 9 Pro and S21 Ultra, and decided to stick with the S21 Ultra (now with Android 12). The OnePlus 9 Pro is fantastic. I spent most of last year with the OnePlus 8 Pro, but when comparing the two, the S21's 10x camera is simply too good to pass up. I'll most likely switch SIM cards again early next year.

Even in low-light conditions, the external selfie camera captures sharp details and realistic colors. Anyone looking for a great selfie, on the other hand, can use the main cameras by opening the phone and using the external display as a viewfinder. It's a little clumsy, but it produces much better photo results. The internal selfie camera is far worse, capturing less detail and providing color that is more akin to cheap webcams. Given that the only reason for using the internal camera is to video chat while multitasking, the quality may be adequate.
Storage: A minimum of 12GB of RAM is recommended. I'm not sure what other phones have that much storage, but it's probably more than I'll ever use. My bloody laptop has 16GB of RAM, and I use it to run multiple virtual machines. A 256GB storage capacity would be ideal, except there is NO SD-CARD SLOT! This is probably my biggest gripe on a phone with nearly every other premium feature and for $3000. The software is the standard Samsung One UI fare. It's loaded with bloatware that calls home and can't be removed easily. Samsung must put a stop to this. However, the section dealing with two screens is near-perfect. When you open the phone, you see the same thing you were looking at but in a larger size (or more columns). It's simple to run two or three programs at the same time once you figure out how. (Display -> Edge screen -> Edge panels -> Apps) Everything appears to be working perfectly.
It should be noted that a Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to be released this summer. Among other things, it's expected to have a faster processor, S Pen support, and possibly an under-display camera. So you should probably wait until mid-August to make a decision. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the epitome of a company listening to its customers and delivering a wide range of improvements they requested. Even at its reduced $1,799 price, this is still a phone for early adopters. At the very least, the Z Fold 2 appears to be a viable product rather than a prototype.

Dust proofing is still lacking. Because there are so many moving parts on the hinge, dust-proofing is impossible. On the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the solution remains tiny nylon brushes that essentially sweep dust out of the hinge if it gets in. That solution performed admirably on previous generations of foldables, so while imperfect, it appears to be adequate. The new Armor Aluminum used in the Galaxy Z Fold 3's chassis and hinges provides at least a 10% increase in strength over the Galaxy Z Fold 2. AllStates durability tests confirmed this. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 was the first phone in eight years to pass the company's drop test with flying colors.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 features an under-screen camera, a first for the company. The under-screen camera on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 replaces the selfie camera and is designed to be completely invisible when not in use, which sounds fantastic. In practice, however, this is not the case. For starters, the camera only has a 4MP sensor, and when the background on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3s display is white, you can clearly see the camera under the display, which isnt ideal.
Is the Galaxy Z Fold 3 worth it?
Like many other purchasing decisions, whether a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold is worthwhile depends on what you're looking for in a phone. My colleague Imad Khan appreciates screen real estate and is pleased with his Galaxy Z Fold 3 purchase when used as a primary device. However, if you're still undecided about whether a folding display is appropriate for how you intend to use your phone,
Samsung used an Eco2OLED panel this time, which stands for Efficient Power Consumption + Eco-friendly Component. The Samsung Display emphasizes in its press release that this screen has a first-of-its-kind integrated polarizer. It is noted that by removing this dark plastic polarizer layer, the screens become up to 29 percent brighter, light transmittance increases by 33 percent, and power consumption decreases by up to 25 percent. So, as previously stated, the display is definitely legible both indoors and out, but it also allows more light to reach the UPC. The pixel density of the screen area on the UPC is much lower, which also makes it easier to use.

You could be forgiven for expecting little to no software support for a Galaxy A-series smartphone as the entry-level series in the Samsung lineup. That couldn't be further from the truth, as Samsung is quick to get many of its low-cost lines safe and secure in the same way that flagships are. For those in Asia who own a Galaxy A73, the June 2022 security update is now available. The rollout started in Malaysia, but this Exynos-powered smartphone should be updated in more regions in the coming days. The Galaxy A71 (LTE), one of its predecessors, is now receiving the June patch in a number of European countries, including France, Spain, Slovakia, Poland, Portugal, Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Greece, as of June 22.
We already mentioned that the Z Fold 2 can go almost anywhere. Like most phones in this price range, it is not waterproof or dust-proof. But it has the potential to go the distance. In our testing, we saw all-day battery life, and the phone comes with a 25W charger for what Samsung calls Super Fast Charging. It also supports fast 11W wireless charging (a little slower than the usual 15W wireless charging found on new Samsung phones), as well as reverse wireless charging, in case those new Galaxy Buds Live require some juice. We dubbed the original Galaxy Fold "the most forward-thinking smartphone you shouldn't buy" because, despite its screen-folding innovation, it had classic first-generation limitations and cost more than the best laptop. We also expected Samsung to respond quickly to our major concerns, which it did. However, this is not the best Samsung phone for the average consumer.
Overall, the Z Fold 2 performs well, but I did notice some minor software glitches. The YouTube app's appearance remained unchanged. I tried switching screen modes, but restarting the app fixed the problem. In terms of 5G, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz frequencies, so you should have no trouble connecting to 5G networks where they are available. In central New Jersey, I didn't see the best results. The download speed of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 on AT&T's network was only 22 Mbps, but on T-Mobile it was 122 Mbps in the same location.
The crease remained: it was visible when the screen was turned off or when viewing dark content with overhead glare from lights, but it was easily forgotten even when touched with your thumb. Photograph courtesy of Samuel Gibbs/The Guardian Aside from Samsungs and a few third-party apps, few phones have a full tablet-sized interface on the internal screen when held in portrait orientation. When the device is held in landscape mode, many more websites and apps resize properly to the large screen. This is due to the screen being taller than it is wide. When you turn it on its side, many apps and websites, including the Guardian, recognize the width as being larger than a phone and display a larger display fit for a tablet or laptop.
