Ashwagandha And Zoloft Reddit

However, I've been experiencing some of the worst panic attacks and anxiety episodes of my life over the last month. After taking the GRE on February 3rd, I suffered a panic episode that put me in a continual state of worry. I couldn't sleep or eat for days and had to miss work (I work part-time in retail) until my doctor prescribed Ativan. I took it as directed and felt better after a few days. I'd have a few baby panic episodes, but they'd pass after a few minutes. Everything was going swimmingly until March 5th. It was the day after my closest friend's (who had died) birthday, and I had a full-fledged panic attack, which left me in a continual state of worry. The same things are occurring as they did during the last meltdown (not sleeping, not eating, rumination of thoughts).

Some herbal remedies, according to the April 2008 edition of "Therapeutic Medication Monitoring," interfere with the methods used to assess drug levels in a patient's bloodstream. Ashwagandha disrupts immunoassay readings of digoxin, a drug used to treat congestive heart failure and irregular heart rhythms. According to Drugs.com, this interference is most likely caused by a chemical structural similarity. If you are on digoxin, see your doctor before taking ashwagandha.

Right, I'd be more worried about interactions affecting metabolism than interactions involving neurotransmitter effects. In other words, if a medication you are taking is metabolized by one of the same liver enzymes that metabolize kava, kava may affect the concentration of your medications in your system. I don't know enough about the specifics to tell whether or not this would apply to Zoloft. However, this type of problem is possible when you use any combination of two or more drugs that are metabolized by the liver; it is a lower order problem than something like serotonin syndrome from taking too many serotonergic meds; however, there are some combinations you should definitely avoid for this reason, such as Tylenol + kava or alcohol + kava. Please keep in mind that I am not a doctor. Unfortunately, not many physicians would be familiar with this.
