This is just my opinion, and I may be wrong, but I believe this song is about a deep love that Chris (or someone else) feels for someone. Love may be expressed but not returned. "Blow the bridge to the past, erase the fingerprints / melt your heart trapped in wax, seal it with a kiss," begins the opening lyric. I believe this is indicating that they (the song's subjects) should say their goodbyes and go on with their lives. They should not forget one another even if they go on. "Repose, my darling, I've sinned enough for the two of us," says the next line. This is most likely an apology for any wrongs done to the person they love, telling them they're sorry but everything is OK now and they can go on. They go on, but Chris (or the generic topic) never forgets; they love the other so deeply that they're prepared to go to any length for them, and even if they never get that love, they will carry it with them to the grave.

By 2007, the band's debut EP, The Whorror, had been released. They travelled throughout America that year, writing substantial songs for their own album, which was eventually released as an EP in 2009 under the umbrella of Tragic Hero records and was titled When Love Met Destruction. The EP's debut song, Ghost In the Mirror, became a big success, prompting the band to create their first studio album, Creatures, in 2010. On the Billboard Heatseeker Music Chart, the album debuted at number six. The album's first song, Abigail, was a major hit, and it was followed by the second and third singles, Creatures and Immaculate Misconception, respectively.
